About Us
My Wicks Ends CEO embraces the Entreprenrialship that’s within her bloodline.
Vibrant, joyful, creative, passionate and fun are not only the words to describe Baltimore native, Kristen L. Bacon but they also embody the company she created in 2022-My Wicks End LLC. As a busy mom, wife and full time contractor, making candles started as a joyful hobby and stress reliever. She desired a creative outlet, and candle making provided her with hours and hours of fun. Particularly, she enjoyed experimenting with different scents. After extensive experimenting and testing, she decided to start My Wicks End LLC.
Why My Wicks End LLC?
My Wicks End was the result of a long hard day at work. Driving home in rush hour traffic and thinking, I’m at my wits end with this job- and like a light bulb turning on for the first time, she shouted, “My Wicks End!” Kristen went home and immediately searched out to see if the name was already in use, luckily it wasn’t and in a matter of hours, My Wicks End LLC, was born.
What’s In our Candles
Our candles are made with pure soy wax, coconut soy wax, and premium fragrance oils; some candles may contain candle safe dye to add a pop of color. During the early stages, we did a lot of research on the types of candle wax and candle additives. We decided to use soy wax as a more environmentally friendly and cleaner option than the petroleum-based paraffin candles that make up most of the candle market. We also opted to use premium fragrance oils specifically made for candles. Many of these fragrance oils are infused with essential oils. Using fragrance oils specifically designed for candles makes for a more safe candle. Essentials oils, on their own, should not be used in candle making. Many essential oils, when burned, can become toxic as they are not meant to be used this way. Burning essential oils also kills the great benefits that they offer.
Our Process
Our candles are always hand-poured in small batches, which helps ensure attention to detail and the highest quality candles. Candles are then cured. Curing candles helps create a better aromatic experience. The curing maximizes the candle’s scent.
